This is the real thing. A small diner that is ancient by NY standards. The people are nice and the food is better than they need to make it, they care. Best huevos rancheros in town.

Please comprehend with thoroughness what I am about to share regarding Hector's Cafe & Diner. Stop falling for the social media hype and make this your go-to spot for two out of your three meals of the day [ or at least one meal, or all three meals. ] This place is basically a historical landmark and has survived the gentrification of the Meat Packing District and from what we observed while we dined in twice, the locals' best kept secret. Hector's focus on service and quality of their food. You will not find any of today's social media aesthetics here. Instead, there is a natural charm to the restaurant, its service, people and food. I had the best club sandwich of my life here. Yes, a club sandwich. And my mom who is extremely picky said the same thing about her sandwich. My brother ordered the chicken Caesar wrap and had the same feedback. My husband ate our daughter's chicken tenders and same. Hector's passes with flying color and five stars. There was real, hand carved turkey in my sandwich. The bread was freshly toasted, the salad crisp, the chicken tenders were fried in a homemade batter and lightly breaded. Need I say more? Hector's was so good that we went back to experience breakfast and the pancakes, eggs white and turkey sausage were mother-wateringly good & fresh. The turkey sausage looked like it came from a turkey, not a mince meat factory. My egg whites were not runny. My pancakes were the perfect hue of gold. I can go on and on. The menu is vast and extensive, but don't be intimated by it. The staff picks up on social cues and gives you more than enough time to browse through its pages. Hector's Diner & Cafe is golden and I hope it continues to be a true original in a world of change.

Shhh! Amidst all of the fabulousness that is the Meatpacking District sits this Peruvian owned spot that's been a part of the neighborhood since 1949!!! Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner is available at anytime and I LVE myself some Breakfast items ,even late at night ("Hector's" is open late on the weekends ) When you simply have an urge for delicious Chocolate Chip Pancales, a Florentine Omelette (spinach with Feta) or a bowl of Lentil Soup with Homemade Spinach Pie in an authentic NYC diner, this is the spot, it's close to the Whitney Museum downtown. The service is very good, there are a few umbrella tables outside, right under "The Highline". I'll lbe back to check out their Avena ( Oatmeal) but I can definitely recommend an afternoon treat - their spicy "Michelada",it's served in a frosted mug dipped in tajin spice - out of this world!!! (If you don't want it prepared with alcohol, have them prepare it with a cold V8, it taste like the SPICIEST Bloody Mary you've ever had in your life! Whoa, but WOW! Try it! I really should've ordered mine with their tortilla chips and homemade guacamole to go with it! "Hector's" is the most "real" down-to-earth place to grab a bite with friends where you can actually hear each other talk or sit at the counter and chill out with a cup of delicious coffee and a muffin while reading the New York Post. A real New York kinda place!

If you love a good old breakfast of eggs, potato, and bacon with a side of toast paired with unlimited coffee refill or a classic club sandwich while shopping at the Meatpacking District and visiting The Whitney Museum. This is your go-to spot for some classic diner food. I order a staple breakfast dish which is two eggs that comes with potatoes (I recommend mashing them a bit more with a fork since they have chunks of potatoes), bacon with buttered toast. It was quite filling and exactly what you want to try while at this diner. There's some rich history behind this diner such as being the working men spot when Meatpacking District was literally packing meat and it was used as the backdrop for tv shows/movies like Taxi Driver and Law & Order. I recommend sitting at the bar and watch the cooks making the food. They are very kind and hard working individuals. It felt very family based when overhearing the boss talking to his employees arriving to start working and sharing stories about their days. It has this chill and calm space to relax and enjoy a meal. I highly recommend coming in to experience and feast on some diner food no matter the time of day

Loved it here! We were in the area and were looking for some good food. Most of the food options in the Meatpacking District are more high end. But, we stumbled across this place. I'm so glad we stopped by! I had the omelette with sweet potato fries. I also ordered a hot chocolate. Everything I had was so good! There were a few other people here when I got here, which was about an hour before they closed. Our server was friendly and attentive. I'm glad we found this place! I'll definitely stop back here for the affordable food options and the retro vibes. I recommend this spot if you're looking for food in this area.

How can I best describe this spot? Hmm..Let's see. For one, nostalgic comes to mind. Imagine going to Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, and squeezed in between all of those designer brick and mortars is a humble, unassuming, little diner. Yes, this is how Hectors Cafe & Diner can be best described. Est. in 1949, Hector's withstood Covid-19, while high end designer stores closed their doors and now replacement designer stores are reopening around them. This Cafe & Diner has stood the test of time, remaining unscathed with its quaint out of place exterior, as well as seemingly unchanged interior, serving a variety of plentiful diner food in the Meatpacking District. Upon first look it seems to sit in a sense, out of place. Though Hector's provides comfort in knowing they remain steadfast, offering a glimpse of NYC history not swallowed up by the surrounding gentrification. Food, Service and Cost 4.5 Stars.

This is exactly what it looks like - a classic NY diner. If you go in with that expectation, it's exactly what you're going to get. I enjoyed the interior because they're not trying hard and it's really a true New York restaurant joint. I ordered a burrito without rice and thought it was good. Nice and fresh. I'd come back but again for what is a humble, warm experience at a corner joint. Love a good diner in nyc!
